Innovation, the vocation for performance, technical perfectionism, Italian design, and authenticity. A partnership that introduces Basso Bikes to the world of Formula 1 through some of the models in a dedicated livery – including Diamante SV, Palta, and the Volta e-bike –, made for Scuderia AlphaTauri. The bikes will be dedicated to team mobility during the European race weekends and for the drivers’ training during the F1 season.
The Scuderia, also at the request of the drivers – the Japanese Yuki Tsunoda and the Australian Daniel Ricciardo – has chosen to focus on top-level racing bicycles, not only in terms of performance but also in terms of identity and the values that distinguish them.
For Scuderia AlphaTauri athletes, being able to count on the partnership with Basso means having the opportunity to train at their best, helping to increase their competitiveness on board the cars. A partnership that adds a chapter of excellence to the history of the bond between the world of bikes and Motorsport, whose riders and teams are often also passionate cyclists.
Scuderia AlphaTauri is an Italian Formula 1 racing team based in Faenza. From 2006 to 2019, the Scuderia raced in the F1 world championship as Scuderia Toro Rosso: in 14 seasons, they’ve launched the careers of many young talents. Several of them have gone on to be stars of the sport, such as Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo and Carlos Sainz.
In its past history, Scuderia AlphaTauri scored two wins, in Monza 2008 and 2020, one pole position, one-second place in Brazil and a third in Germany, both in 2019 as Toro Rosso, and another third place in Azerbaijan 2021.
The Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda #22 was born on 11 May 2000 in Kanagawa: at 20 years of age is the youngest driver on the Formula 1 grid in 2021, making his debut as AlphaTauri official driver alongside Pierre Gasly at the Bahrain circuit and scoring a ninth place. Yuki has been confirmed as AlphaTauri’s official driver for the 2022 and 2023 F1 seasons as well.
The Australian driver Daniel Joseph Ricciardo #3, born in 1989, of Italian descent, developed his sporting career in the Red Bull Junior Team’s Accademy. He became the champion of the Formula Renault WEC in 2008 and the British F3 with Carlin in 2009. He made his Formula 1 debut in 2011, and throughout his career, he has raced for the teams HRT, Toro Rosso, Red Bull, Renault, and McLaren. In 2023, he officially became a driver for Scuderia AlphaTauri.
The livery of the bikes celebrates the colors of the new AT04 F1 car, among the most elegant in the paddock. Characterized by blue and white, the iconic colors of Scuderia AlphaTauri, this year’s novelty is a touch of warmth conferred by red. As with the car, the livery of the bike is also completely cut in two, with red separating the blue, which bears the Scuderia logo, from the white, which bears the rider’s number.
The partnership is not limited to the bikes supplied by Basso to AlphaTauri: the Scuderia team and partners will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of bicycles by experiencing a Basso Experience organized for them.
Fabian Wrabetz, Marketing Communications Director of Scuderia AlphaTauri, said: “Basso is a symbol of Italian authenticity. Performance, strength, and elegance are the unmistakable hallmarks of Basso bikes, making each one a precious “Made in Italy” product. That is why Basso is the perfect partner for Scuderia AlphaTauri. We are delighted to welcome Basso to the team, with both our marques representing Italian heritage in the Formula 1 paddock”.
Scuderia AlphaTauri and Basso Bikes, Formula 1 single-seaters and racing bicycles. Two expressions of sporting passion raised to the highest levels. The perfectionistic search for maximum performance in terms of speed, precision, reliability, and Italian style gives a touch of uniqueness.
